Send this email. Make that phone call. Go to a meeting. Meet a deadline. Write a blog...Does your list seem as never-ending as mine?
So often, in the whirlwind of my day, I forget to slow down and ask God to guide me.
What would happen though, if before turning on my computer and opening my inbox, I spent even 1 minute in prayer asking God to use me that day? In the emails I send. In the conversations I have. In the deadlines I meet.
Even Forbes.com says, "Many people come into work harried...they've barely survived another horrendously stressful commute, and then they dive into the madness...Slowing down, taking a moment to pause, and creating a routine around centering yourself can work wonders....give yourself a few minutes to meditate and get settled in. This is a good way to set the tone of the day..."
Our work is important. And "centering ourselves" around the One we're serving can change our perspective for the day.
We're working to share the hope we've found in Jesus with the lost, hurting, hopeless, and those in desperate need of a Savior. Our works matters.
But if we're not careful to refocus ourselves each day, we quickly forget why we're sending that email or meeting this deadline. We forget about our goal.
So, let's refocus today. Take a moment away from the whirlwind of your day and get ready for the work ahead of you. Ask God to guide you.
Proverbs 16:3-4a says, "Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established. The Lord has made everything for its purpose."
